
Lessons forever
Promoting the need of education amongst the children of the remote areas of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir, the 27 Rashtrya Rifles Maratha light infantry conducted a national integration tour, for which they visited the city recently. The tour was a part of operation Sadbhavana, where in these militancy-affected children of the Kashmir valley got an opportunity to know and meet people elsewhere in the country. To spread the words forward, Pune sub-area commander, Brig RJ Sharma, interacted with the children and also encouraged them to join the army after completing their education.
Flex and fine
Recently a rally had been organised by Mother Theresa School, Vadgaon Sheri, in order to create awareness of the need of Yoga and Pranayam. To spread the word on the benefit of Yoga and pranayam, 750 students, teachers, parents, directors and the yoga trainers of Patanjali Yog Samiti got together for the rally during his recent visit to Pune. While some students carried message placards others performed Pranayam on the top of a van, which was a good demonstration of their skills.
Holy meet
Jehovah8217;s Witness Of India arranged a district convention programme recently at PCMC auditorium, Chinchwad. Guided by God8217;s holy spirit, was a programme presented in Hindi attended by around 2000 representatives from different parts of Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Lonavla, Kalyan, Karjat, Ahmednagar, Miraj and Kolhapur. Various lectures, talks, interviews and discourse were given to people of all age groups on the ways to resist temptation, cope with discouragement, withstand harmful peer pressure and endure adversity. On the last day, a Bible-based Drama was also staged.
