
VADODARA, May 16: The fund allotted to Mehsana Project under the Component Plan for the year 1998-99 was disbursed recently in a function held at Mehsana. C Lal, GGM P Mehsana, inaugurated the function. Lal emphasised the need for such funds for the upliftment of the people from the weaker sections of society. A total of Rs 1,20,000 was distributed to different institutions for looking after poor children. The effort made by the office bearers of All India SC/ST Employees Welfare Association SEWA for making this function a grand success was appreciated by all.
NIGHT FOOTBALL HELD:ONGC8217;s Employees Welfare Committee, Baroda, organised a three day Open Baroda8217; floodlit night-football tournament from May 8th to 10th at ONGC Pavilion ground. Ten teams from in and around Baroda participated in the seven-a-side matches. The final was played between ONGC-A and Providence-A. ONGC-A won the match by 2-0. ONGC8217;s first goal was scored by R.S. Sajwan, while A.K. Mandal scored the second.
J. V. Rao, Dy. General Manager Pamp;A gave away the winners trophy. The runners-up trophy was presented by Raju Rajpuram, Jt. Secretary of Regional Sports Council, ONGC, Baroda. Best promising young star trophy was given to Chetan Bahadur from Providence-A by Shri Rajput, Vice-President of the Employees Welfare Committee. From ONGC A K Mandal was adjudged as the best player of the game8217; and Udyan Bhatt as best goalkeeper.8217;
DONATION FOR CHAMOLI: Uttarkhand Kalyan Samiti was formed about four years back with the active appreciation of ONGC serving and retired employees hailing from that region. It was conceived to give financial assistance and emotional support to the hill people of Uttarkhand. About Rs 52,000 was collected in and around Vadodara. The money could not be distributed earlier due to administrative reasons. Recently, the Samiti donated Rs 70,000 to the Collector amp; District Magistrate of Chamoli for the people who were struck by the recent devastating earthquake.
