The condition of CPIM State secretary Anil Biswas remains critical and he is still in coma. Biswas suffered a massive brain haemorrhage on Saturday, and has been in Woodlands Nursing Home ever since.

8216;8216;His condition is still the same. He is still critical though stable, and he will have to be kept on life-support for some days more,8217;8217; said Dr Trisith Roy, head of the Bangur Institute of Neurology who forms part of the medical board in charge of Biswas8217;s treatment. However, Left Front chairman Biman Bose claimed that Biswas8217;s condition had improved. 8216;8216;His condition has not deteriorated, in fact it has improved. His condition is continuously being watched by the medical board,8217;8217; said Bose.

Meanwhile, party supporters continued to maintain vigil outside Woodlands Nursing Home. Grim faced, with a prayer on their lips, they stood in groups within the hospital premises.

But they seemed to accepted the reality. 8216;8216;We do believe he will come back fully cured and take up the reins of the party like he did before,8217;8217; said one of the party faithfuls.

Among those who visited the nursing home today were Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, Minister for Forests Jogesh Burman, Minister for Fisheries Kiranmoy Nanda and Mayor Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya.
