There were enough hints at the national executive meeting that the national coach Stephen Constantine8217;s contract, due to expire in a few months8217; time, won8217;t be renewed. Though AIFF president didn8217;t give a clear signal, he has asked for a detailed report from the support staff that went to Japan. 8216;8216;I have asked for a detailed report and a decision will be taken after scrutinising it.8217;8217; Meanwhile, the members at the executive meeting also bayed for Constantine8217;s blood, saying 8216;8216;When Constantine took over India were 113 in FIFA ranking and today we are 143! When he came here, we were 113 in the world. But now we are 143 and may even go further down after yesterday8217;s miserable show.

8212; Mohun Bagan coach Subrat Bhattacharya

No purpose would be served by dismissing him. Can those now clamouring for his scalp guarantee that things will change if he goes?
