ROHTAK, Aug 3: Maharishi Dayanand University Teachers8217; Association MDUTA has suffered a vertical split with some teachers forming a parallel body 8211; Maharishi Dayanand University Teachers8217; Department Teaching Association MDUTDTA here today.

Maharishi Dayanand University Teachers Association president Wazir Singh Nehra had been levelling allegations against Vice-Chancellor O.P. Kaushik that he was trying to split the association.

It may be recalled that association headed by Nehra had disagreed with the Vice-Chancellor on several issues and the association had been organising dharnas and rallies against the alleged dictatorial style of functioning of the Vice-Chancellor.

According to Returning Officer Naresh Mishra, S.S. Chahal of Commerce department has been elected president, while Jatinder Parshad and Suresh Chand Malik had been elected vice-president and secretary respectively. Vijay Kumar of History department was elected joint-secretary cum treasurer. Seven members of the executive committee were also elected unopposed.

Meanwhile the University authorities have banned ragging in the campus. The step has been taken in light of past experiences, said the press release.

Disciplinary action would be taken against the students violating the order, it said.
