KODERMA, May 12: In stepped up violence the outlawed Maoist Communist Centre MCC today gunned down 11 persons in Bihar8217;s Koderma district while four others were killed by Naxalites in Gaya and Garhwa districts during the past 48 hours.

Police sources said that an armed squad of the MCC waylaid a jeep near Noori hills under Sapahi police station of Koderma district and gunned down 11 persons and injured another.

Official sources said the activists of the extremist outfit first kidnapped the people travelling in a jeep and later shot them dead after tying their hands and feet. The deceased belonged to a particular community and were going to Jhumari Tilliya from Sapihi village in Nawada district.

All the victims belonged to Baratand village of the district, whose inhabitants had lynched two MCC men about a month back in protest against alleged extortion by the outfit from the owner of a mica mine.

Senior district officials have rushed to the spot with reinforcements, the sources said.

In another incident, Maoist Communist Centre men opened fire on a bus near Raniganj village under Imamganj police station of Gaya district late last night killing two persons, including its cleaner and injured as many, the DIG Magadh range.
