
CHANDIGARH, Oct 12: The suit for damages filed against Punjab Chief Secretary R. S. Mann was adjourned till October 26 by UT Sub Judge Ist Class Jag Nahar Singh today.
In the suit, seeking Rs 11 lakh as damages, former superintending engineer V. K. Jain had earlier alleged that he was harassed and subjected to mental torture. He had added that his esteem had been lowered in public and that he had to suffer monetary loss due to quot;unnecessary litigationquot;.
He had also alleged that the defendant in an quot;illegal, arbitrary, vindictive and malafide manner,quot; had issued orders for his premature retirement in September, 1989.
He had further stated that the orders were passed against the recommendations of an apex body constituted by the government on pre-mature retirements.
