
MUMBAI, DEC 13: Fighting hoodlums during a chainsnatching incident in broad daylight cost a 35-year-old man his life in Malad west today.
Three women on their way to church were caught by surprise when a group of three unidentified men came in a rickshaw and snatched the gold chain from the neck of one of the women.
Bharat Mistry along with his sister Jyoti Patel were walking along the Link Road at Chincholi Bunder at around 8 am when they noticed the attack. Mistry rushed to help. He chased one of the escaping culprits. However, he got stabbed on his chest. In the melee the three women fled in panic and the robbers managed to escape in a waiting rickshaw.
Mistry was taken to Bhagwati Hospital in a critical condition, where he was declared dead before admission. The women did not show up after the incident to file any complaint, the Malad police told Express Newsline, adding that a case of murder and robbery has been registered and a manhunt has been launched to catch the robbers.
