Ace tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi will team up with Australia’s Joshua Eagle for the 2003 season. This was disclosed by Bhupathi in a chat with ENS on the sidelines of a charity auction conducted by Tata, here on Thursday night. He said that his first priority would be to bid for a fifth title at the Tata Open, which kicks-off on December 30 at the Nungambakkam Stadium in Chennai. As announced earlier, Bhupathi will partner Todd Woodbrige of Australia, the game’s most successful doubles player.

On his chances at the Open, Bhupathi said: ‘‘We are the favourites and I would certainly like to win in my country. But it all depends on how we play on a given day.’’ Asked about his plans in mixed-doubles, he informed that he had not yet decided.
