CHANDIGARH, April 26: State Bank of Patiala has formulated a scheme called quot;Gyan Jyoti Schemequot; to extend financial assistance to needy and deserving students opting for school/college education in India and abroad, and also for technical and professional studies.

According to S C Dhall, branch manager, Lawrence School, Sanawar, the bank will extend loan up to Rs 1 lakh for school and college education in India and up to Rs 8 lakh or 90 per cent of the cost of study for technical and professional higher studies in India and abroad.

He added that loan could be repaid in 36 to 60 monthly instalments.
