Youth from Barabanki is cycling his way, hopefully, to the book of records
When the entire country stood standstill, business activities got affected and life suspended for more than 60 hours, there was one man who didn8217;t stop at all.
It was not by design but mere coincidence that when nation got hooked to commando operations in Hotel Taj, Nariman House and Oberio Trident, this man was pursuing his determination to enter into the Guinness Book of Records 8212; cycling non-stop.
While paddling his way into record books, he perhaps created another record of being unaware of terror news that shocked the globe.
Meet Ramu Pandey, a resident of Barabanki whose is on a stationary cycling expedition for the last 80 hours and was still going on.
He eyes a record of George Broke whose similar journey ended in 84 hours in January 2007.
While the Mumbai trail of terror started November 26 night, his journey began in the day itself amidst blazing music of Jeevan chalne ka naam, chalte raho subah shaam8230;8221;.
Deriving inspiration from famous lyrics from Manoj Kumar starrer 8216;Roti, Kapda Aur Makaan8217;, Ramu has been cycling continuously in the Central Park of Samar Vihar Colony in Lucknow. 8220;He is on an unstoppable mission and we have not informed him of any development about terror as it could have affected his concentration,8221;says Yougin Pal, chief coordinator of the event. Pandey, a farmer by profession, has not eaten anything since then. 8220;We have been providing him with juice and tea which he sips while pedalling,8221; says Pal
He adds, when Pandey feels sleepy water is sprinkled on his face by his friend Lavkush. 8220;I knew from the beginning, nothing could deter him, he is set to break the record,8221; says Lavkush.
The event is being sponsored by Non Olympics Association of Uttar Pradesh under the supervision of its secretary AK Saxena. 8220;The feat is being recorded live and will be sent to Guinness Book of Records as official entry,8221; says Saxena. On Sunday, Pandey would be felicitated by Chandra Prakash, DIG, Lucknow range.
