Team India captain Saurav Ganguly was in a dismissive mood on Saturday. It may have been the effect of a hard day’s work on the field – but for a commercial shoot featuring Team India players and colours at the Cricket Club of India (CCI).

The cricketers – skipper, vice-captain Dravid, one-day specialists Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh and injured bowlers Harbhajan and Zaheer – wrapped up their day. Yuvraj especially had opted out of the ongoing Duleep Trophy citing a shoulder injury, while Zaheer, Harbhajan and Kaif were still recovering.

Ganguly once again reiterated that he was more than eager to cross at Wagah. In tones that would please his would-be hosts in Pakistan, he discounted fears of security and the effects it will have on performances in Pakistan.

‘‘This will be a special series, like any Indo-Pak series.’’

In doing so he disagreed with the assessment of team psychologist Sandy Gordon who, in a newspaper interview, said he feared that ‘‘the situation in Pakistan did not provide the best chance for the team to excel’’.

But the skipper once again sought to higlight the point that there will be ‘‘lots of things to do in Pakistan’’. ‘‘I do not think we will be like prisoners in the hotel. The security will be tight but we will get to do our own thing.’’

During the day there was a mini-Team India gathering as well, as coach John Wright too touched base.

The coach appeared excited about the forthcoming tour and said that he was ‘‘looking forward’’ to the tour.

As the commercial shoot got underway after a break, the skipper got first-hand inputs on the status of his key bowlers Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh. And at the end of it all, he seemed happy.

‘‘As far as Ajit (Agarkar), Anil (Kumble) and Zaheer (Khan) are concerned, I know that they are fit. They will submit their certificates before the selection committee meeting.’’
