8226; The Bhakra dam was built and inaugurated with great hopes but to the best of my knowledge, Gobindsagar Reservoir never got filled to its capacity. The dam and the powerhouse are a delightful sight indeed, but the dam also has problems due to silting. Who knows, there could be similar miscalculations in case of the Narmada dam as well? that the height of the dam be increased seem to be treating human life as a cheap commodity.

I am a part of the 8216;8216;star-lit India8217;8217;8212;educated in the best institutes of the country and now ready to reap glittering benefits of the same. I don8217;t know whether it is possible to bridge the drift between the two Indias. I don8217;t understand much of economics, but I have read that economic liberalisation benefits slowly but surely trickle down to the lowest classes of the society. I certainly hope they do.
