Left Front chairman and CPI(M) Politburo member Biman Bose today surrendered before an additional metropolitan magistrate and was granted bail on a bond of Rs 1,000.

Bose earned the Election Commission’s wrath with his remarks against poll observers on the eve of the Lok Sabha elections. Bose expressed annoyance with the functioning of the observers and exhorted party members to drag the observers ‘‘by neck’’ to the police station. The EC had asked the state chief electoral officer to file an FIR against Bose. After the FIR was filed, the LF chairman got an anticipatory bail on May 12.
