Landlords rape young housewife

The three landlords were not arrested till late on Friday evening. The woman has been admitted to a Baramati hospital for a medical check up, police said. The 18-year-old housewife from Zargadwadi was going to meet some relatives in Baramati when she was raped, they added.

The landlords allegedly intercepted the woman at a secluded spot near Gunavadi hamlet and assaulted her. Later, they dragged her to a nearby sugarcane field. They also threatened her of dire consequences if she dared to complain against them, the woman alleged.

Police said Hanumant Baburao Nevse at Zargadwadi has lodged a complaint accusing the victim’s father-in-law and two others of committing a theft at his residence on November 1.

Nevse’s FIR alleged that the victim’s father-in-law and others sneaked into his house while its door was left open. They stole some garments. Police said the two landlords were angry that the victim’s father-in-law had committed a theft in their village.
