PERAMBALUR, MAY 20: Talk about irate landlords. This one actually locked in the sole staffer of the post office housed in his leased premises. The beleaguered postman was finally released with the arrival of the police.
According to police, landlord K Punnusamy, irked by his repeated notices to vacate the rented premises going unheeded by the Department of Posts, latched the door to the building which housed the local post office in Thungapuram village of the district, trapping the sole tenant, a postman, inside.
It appears that the postal department had not paid Punnusamy the rent and simply refused to budge from the place. The exasperated landlord and his son, chose to secure the doors.
Police rushed to the rescue of the postman after receiving an SOS. The landlord and his son have been arrested.
