
GURDASPUR, Feb 17: The police today claimed to have foiled the attempt of Punjab terrorists to regroup by arresting Inderjit Singh, a hardcore terrorist Khalistan Zindabad Force KZF.
Gurdaspur senior superintendent of police Varinder Kumar told media persons, here, that, on a tip off, Inderjit Singh, a resident of Malakpur, falling under police station Mir Sahib R.S Pura Jammu and Kashmir was arrested during a special police naka put up by the police in Sunder Chak area Pathankot on the intervening night of February 16 and 17 even as his accomplice managed to escape.
The police recovered one AK-56, six magazines and 160 cartridges from the possession of Inderjit Singh, the SSP said. Varinder Kumar said that the preliminary interrogation of Inderjit Singh revealed that he had had a very close association with Mohinder Singh Pappi, who was the chief of Khalistan Tiger Force in early 90s. Pappi was having a very strong base in Jammu and Kashmir and had played a vital role in bringing Punjab terrorists and their counterparts in Jammu and Kashmir closer and had acted once as major conduit for supplying weapons to Punjab. He was later killed in a police encounter in Khanna, the police officer said.
