Kidnapped 10-year-old found murdered

In a shocking incident, a 10-year-old school boy was found murdered on Saturday afternoon after he was kidnapped from Kapodara on Friday evening.

In a shocking incident, a 10-year-old school boy was found murdered on Saturday afternoon after he was kidnapped from Kapodara on Friday evening. The body was found in the bushes near a canal at Abhrama Kathor Road in Surat. The police are yet to find out the motive behind the kidnapping and murder of the boy.

According to the police, Smith Goyani, a resident of Sarthi Complex in Nana Varachha, was returning from PP Sawani School with three classmates on Friday afternoon. He walked home alone after his friends parted ways at J B Gabhani Library near Sarthi complex. Just then a car came near him, picked him up forcibly and sped off. Two persons, who were eyewitnesses, immediately went to Kapodara police station and reported the incident.

Smith8217;s father, Dr Kishor Goyani, a homoeopathic doctor, started looking for his son when he failed to return home on time. He also called on his son8217;s classmates at their homes and later went to Kapodara police station to lodge a missing complaint. The police conducted a search for Smith the whole night and asked Kishor to be alert for any ransom calls.

On Saturday afternoon, a passer-by saw the body of a boy in school uniform at Abhrama Kathor Road and informed the police. Kapodara police rushed to the spot and took charge of the body. Dr Kishor also went to the spot and was shocked to see his son8217;s body. The police also found some scars on the throat of the deceased. The body was later sent to SMIMER hospital for post mortem.

Inspector B M Desai of Kapodara police said: 8220;We suspect some old enmity might have been behind it. Death was caused by strangulation. We are shocked, as we had been waiting for a ransom call. This has become a mystery to us. We have recorded statements of Dr Kishor and the school authorities. We are carrying out investigations and will nail the accused shortly.8221;
