Jadavpur University is moving fast towards the bridging the language barrier and providing remote access to selected digital contents.

The university is e-archiving its administrative and academic records. For this, a research programme has been started under Professor Anirban Ray Choudhuri and Professor Mita Nasipuri.

The funding is being done under World Bank’s Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP).

The e-archiving will cover the documents of the University Court, Executive Council, Academic Council, Administrative Committee meetings and articles written in Bengali and Devnagri. With this system, paper-based records storage will be modernised and minimised.

“It is going to be immensely helpful for office automation. It will also fully digitalise the entire library and preservation of cultural text,” said Prof Ray Choudhury. The project will also mean accessibility of all records in connection with the right to information.
