CHANDIGARH, Nov 16: Thousands of local school children and teachers, along with members of service organisations such as the Rotary clubs, will form a human chain on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. precisely. The chain will be nearly 100 km long, encompassing nearly every part of the city. The event symbolises India8217;s effort to quot;chain polioquot;.

Road junctions will be cut off for traffic for a two-minute period at the sounding of a siren. Everyone is welcome to be a part of the chain.

The human chain formed here for a polio-free India will be one of many created throughout the country at exactly the same time; some 30 lakh people are expected to participate nationwide. Rotarians from Europe and America will also take part in the event.
