Jhuggi Samiti activists block traffic

CHANDIGARH, Nov 19: The Jhuggi Sangharsh Samiti blocked traffic near Kisan Bhavan here yesterday to press for their demands which include rehabilitation and provision of basic amenities for the jhuggi dwellers.

The Samiti members, led by their chief convenor and All India Mahila Congress joint secretary Manjit Kaur, began their protest march from Kajheri Chowk. On reaching Kisan Bhavan,they blocked traffic for nearly half an hour. Later, they marched to the Housing Board roundabout and sat on a dharna. They dispersed when their delegation returned after submitting a memorandum to the Raj Bhavan.
