8226; The Congress Party is back to its old strategy of using the governor8217;s post to install its own governments in the states. The NDA regime may have been accused of many things during their six-year rule but at least they did not interfere with the people8217;s mandate in such a blatant fashion. The conduct of the Jharkhand governor is shocking. Could he please explain as to exactly how he 8220;felt8221; that a Shibu Soren government would be more stable? The governor should stick to the precedent of inviting the single largest party or pre-poll alliance when in doubt. Sadly none of the mainstream English language papers seem to be too bothered about this abuse of the democratic process, pre-occupied as they are in going ga-ga over the Budget and the Indo-Pak cricket series.

8226; So cynical are citizens about politicians and their ability to get away with murder, that nothing surprises them anymore. So if Shibu Soren8217;s jail sentence can be in abeyance or he could not be 8220;traced8221; by the police/ judiciary for 30 years even though he publicly stood for elections throughout this period, and if he is installed as CM by crookery, who cares?

8226; It is a matter of great shame that the governor of Jharkhand invited Shibu Soren even if he does not enjoy a majority in the House. It will be
remembered as a black spot on Indian Democracy Governor8217;s hand on Soren crown8217;, IE, March 3.

8226; Neerja Chowdhury tries to acquit the Congress. Towards the end, she simply states, 8220;The Congress had the support of 42 MLAs8221;. If they had, how did the NDA manage to parade 41 MLAs? Even if she talks about NDA kidnapping an MLA, and we take that MLA out of NDA tally, that still does not add up. How could Congress have 42 and NDA 40? The total is just 81 8216;First Jamir, now Razi: Cong back to its dirty old ways8217;, IE, March 3.

8226; Convey my best wishes to Neerja Chowdhury. It8217;s not the issue of NDA or Congress, alone. It8217;s a matter of democracy. You guys are doing lovely job. Great article. As a non-resident Indian I am proud of Indian democracy. I never fail to tell my five-year-old son about it. The Goa and Jharkhand incidents make all of us ashamed. To revive the Congress Party, Sonia Gandhi has to understand how these tactics could bring back the NDA/BJP. Slowly all the educated are going towards BJP/NDA. She must ask herself why.

8226; Political events 8212; first Goa, now Jharkhand, tomorrow Bihar 8212; has ended democracy in India for all times. I am astounded as to how low the Sonia Gandhi-led Congress and its UPA allies could have fallen to behave in such an undemocratic fashion. I hope the president has the guts and the sense to remove such governors.
