bangkok, Nov 15: It was second time unlucky for Jeev Milkha Singh in as many weeks as he lost to South Africa8217;s James Kingston in a tense sudden death play-off to finish runners up in the Omega Tour8217;s 200,000 Thailand Open golf here today. Fellow South African Craig Kamps missed making it a three-way play-off after dropping a shot at the 18th, but still managed to finish third on 15 under after matching Jeev8217;s 66.
Jeev, who finished second behind Jyoti Randhawa in the Hero Honda Masters in Delhi last week, carded six under 66 in the last round and totalled 16-under 272 69, 67, 70, 66 and drew level with Kingston, who returned two under 70 for 272 69, 64, 69, 70 and had to play an extra hole to decide the winner.
Jeev, who was four behind Kingston at the start of the day reeled in his South African rival with six birdies and a solitary bogey, firing 33 either side of the turn.
After missing a three foot putt for victory at the last, Kingston wasted another straightforward birdie on the first extrahole but emerged winner when Jeev pushed his three foot effort just wide.
