SINGAPORE, Aug 15: Ace Indian golfers Jeev Milkha Singh and Gaurav Ghei returned impressive cards to make the cut in the US 500,000 Sing Tel Ericsson Singapore Open here today.

Jeev, who was unimpressive in the Sabah Masters in Malaysia last week, made a phenomenal rise to the 17th place today from a dismal 67th yesterday with a superb four under par 68.

Ghei, whose game has been on the rise this year when he qualified for the tough British Open to add to his earlier wins, shot a two under par 70 to also log 141 and share the 17th position with Jeev and nine others at the half-way stage.

But the other Indians in the fray 8212; Amit Chopra, Vivek Bhandari and Arjun Singh 8212; fared badly continuing their poor run.

Chopra, who occupied the 106th position, dropped down to 124, with an aggregate of 151. Four rungs below him was Bhandari with a four over par 76 152. Arjun Singh 154 finished joint 135th.

Meanwhile, Ed Fryatt of Britain fired a seven-under-par 65 today to take the lead. Two strokes behind him at 136 was Myanmar8217;s Zaw Moe.
