A 27-year-old undertrial of the Vadodara Central Jail died on Sunday morning following liver failure.

Vadodara Central Jail Superintendent L V Kharadi said, Kalpesh Bhatt was arrested by the Panigate police under Motor Vehicles Act for an accident in which three people were injured near Ajwa Road. The police said Bhatt was under the influence of narcotics at that time.

The Panigate police had sent Bhatt on a judicial custody on November 2. 8220;On Sunday morning, Bhatt complained of stomach-ache. He was rushed to the dispensary as doctors had found that he was under the influence of narcotics and his liver was severely damaged,8221; said Kharadi.

Around 8:00 in the morning, he was rushed to the SSG Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The Raopura police have said that it is conducting inquiry into the matter, adding that Bhatt8217;s death has nothing to with the Central jail.
