It8217;s common knowledge that Greg King and John Gloster are the men behind the Indian team8217;s fitness. Not much is known, though, about the men who8217;ve been helping them at the bowling and conditioning camps in Bangalore over the past few weeks. As their stint comes to an end, they talk about their experiences

Ramjie Srinivasan MRF Pace Academy

Area of work: Assigning different sets of exercises for batsmen, bowlers, wicket-keepers. Helping King set a schedule for players and noting down the problems of players.

His take:

8216;8216;A few exercises were difficult for us trainers too. Stuff like conducting fielding drills and weight training were the most critical of the lot. We had to keep a watch on the players and check if everything was going okay. A slight error could cause a major injury.8217;8217;

Jeet Devaiyya Railways

Area of work: He was the weight-watcher, keeping tabs on the players8217; eating habits and also helping them with weights at the gym.

8216;8216;It was an experience in its own 8212; and others will also go through it, now that the BCCI has made it mandatory for every association to have a fitness trainer and a physio.8217;8217;

Ramakant Karnataka

Area of work: Job was to assist King during the bleep tests and maintain a record of the timings. He also assisted the players at the gym.

8216;8216;Normally the exercises and drills that we conduct with the Ranji squad are almost the same as those at the camp. But there were a few finer aspects involved to this camp which gave everybody something to learn about.8217;8217;

Area of work: Assisting King in maintaining the fitness charts. He and Jeet were also involved in helping the players with their relaxing exercises.

8216;8216;Most of what was done was as interesting to us as to the players. Everybody was learning something and it was motivating to have Chappell around.8217;8217;

Chinmoy Roy Bengal

Area of work: Was responsible for the sledge, ladder and shuttle runs.

8216;8216;There were certain drills that were new to the players but they adapted quite well. The players should be given a lot of credit to have gone through the sessions with utmost sincerity.8217;8217;

Dr Hansraj Tamil Nadu

Area of work: Helping Gloster and Leipus in the capacity of an assistant physio and also responsible for massage and conditioning of the cricketers.

8216;8216;Leipus and Gloster together was a wonderful thing to happen at the right time. Both of them are very good in their jobs and the players have been helped a great deal.8217;8217;
