
Mukesh Ambani controlled Indian Petro Chemicals Ltd IPCL today registered a 27.68 per cent increase in its net profit for the financial year ended March 31, 2006 at Rs 1,005 crore as against Rs 786 crore posted in the previous fiscal. The company8217;s total income for the fiscal increased 3.28 per cent to Rs 8,605 crore from Rs 8,331 crore in 2004-05, IPCL informed the BSE.
IPCL8217;s performance in the last quarter was however below par as it reported a 25.89 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 249 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2006, compared to Rs 336 crore in the year-ago period.
For the same period the total income of the company also declined 13.34 per cent to Rs 2,324 crore as against Rs 2,682 crore a year ago.
BILT net up 26
NEW DELHI: Ballarpur Industries Ltd BILT has recorded a 19.18 per cent increase in consolidated paper revenues at Rs 469.39 crore for the third quarter ended March 31, 2006. The company8217;s net profit for the quarter also went up by 26.80 per cent to Rs 56.06 crore.
The company8217;s gross turnover for FY 2005-06 stood at Rs 2,007 crore while net profit was Rs 168.1 crore. Sales for the company in volume terms was 384,334 tonnes in paper and 82,110 tonnes in pulp.
The company, which will have a new chairman in Gautam Thapar, also embarked on an expansion plan worth Rs 1,200 crore which will see its total output go up to 860,000 tonnes from the existing 460,000 tonnes by March 08.
MTNL dips 57
NEW DELHI: State owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd MTNL on Tuesday reported a 56.60 per cent fall in net profit for the fourth quarter of 2005-06 compared to the previous year.
The decline in profits were on account of declining revenues from its metro operations and limited addressable market for the company, which only operators in metro areas of Delhi and Mumbai.
In the quarter ended March 2006, the company8217;s net profit was at Rs 140.27 crore, compared to Rs 323.26 crore for the same period last fiscal. Total income decreased 3.80 per cent to Rs 1,594.51 crore in the quarter.
For the year ended March 2006, MTNL8217;s net profit were at Rs 578.67 crore.
Dabur net up 22
MUMBAI: FMCG major Dabur India Ltd posted a 21.80 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 50.22 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2006, as compared to Rs 41.23 crore for the same quarter in a year-ago period.
The company8217;s total income increased 5.51 per cent to Rs 334.84 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006, as compared to Rs 317.33 crore for the corresponding period in 2004-05. The board declared a final dividend of Re 1 on a share of Re 1 each for the Financial Year 2005-06.
The company8217;s share closed at Rs 131.40, down 3.42 per cent. For the year ended March 31, 2006, the net profit increased 27.73 per cent to Rs 189.08 crore.
Cipla net up 81
MUMBAI: Pharma major, Cipla Ltd posted an increase of 80.68 per cent in net profit at Rs 190.77 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31 as compared to Rs 105.58 crore for the same quarter previous fiscal.
The total income increased 66.66 per cent to Rs 917.35 crore for the quarter ended March 31 from Rs 550.43 crore in year ago period, the company said.
For the year ended March 31, the company posted a net profit of Rs 600.08 crore as compared to Rs 409.61 crore last year.
The total income increased to Rs 3116.82 crore for 2005-06 from Rs 2336.48 crore in the previous year.
Wockhardt Q1 net dips 87 at Rs 4.9 cr
MUMBAI: Pharmaceutical and biotech major Wockhardt Ltd on Tuesday posted a 87.10 per cent decline in profit after tax for the quarter ended March 31, 2006, at Rs 4.9 crore as compared to Rs 38 crore for the same quarter in 2004-05.
The total income increased 24.79 per cent to Rs 264.7 crore for the first quarter ended March 31, 2006, as against Rs 212.1 crore in the year ago period.
The group8217;s consolidated loss after tax for the quarter ended March 31, 2006 stood at Rs 3.7 crore against a profit after tax of Rs 41.7 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2005. The consolidated total income increased 11.17 per cent to Rs 354.3 crore for the first quarter 2006 as compared to Rs 318.7 crore for the corresponding period in 2005.
