A CPIM worker on Saturday succumbed to his injuries suffered during last week8217;s violence along the Nandigram-Khejuri border, which has prompted the ruling party in West Bengal to call a 12-hour bandh in the region on Monday to protest the killing.

Arun Mondal succumbed to gunshot injuries at the state-run SSKM hospital, party sources said. He had been seriously injured in the incident on July 29 when bombs were hurled and firearms used by rival groups.

The party8217;s East Midnapore district unit on Saturday called a 12-hour bandh at Nandigram and adjoining Khejuri, a party stronghold, they said.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate called an all-party peace meeting at Nandigram on Monday to defuse the prevailing tension.
