DDCA chief fumes
NEW DELHI: Internal squabbles afflicting the Delhi and District Cricket Association DDCA, beleaguered as it is over the issue of exemption of entertainment tax, have come to the fore with its president shooting off an angry missive to the general secretary peeved by the alleged misconduct of the vice-president.

In his letter, DDCA president K K Mehra charged vice president C K Khanna, who happens to be general secretary H K Khanna8217;s nephew, with deliberately slighting him at the prize distribution ceremony after the India-Australia Tri-nation One-Day series final here on April 14.

Terming C K Khanna8217;s conduct as 8220;mean, unethical and diabolical8221;, Mehra, a lawyer, said he cannot continue to represent the association in a professional way.

Asian chess
KOCHI: International Woman Master, S Vijayalakshmi will head the Indian challenge in the Asian Junior Girls Chess Championship at Rasht, Iran from May 8-21.

The team for the junior championship includesthe current National junior champion R Karthik TN and Tejas Bakre Indian Airlines in the boys8217; section and Pallavi Shah Maharashtra and R Aarthie TN in the girls8217; section.

India will also send a three-member age-group team for the Asian under-10, 12, 14 championships which will be held alongside the junior championships in Rasht. Manipur8217;s Lairenjam Mahesh under-10, Deepan Chakravarthy TN 8211; under-12 and P Harikrishna AP 8211; under-14 are the members for the age-group event. International Master RB Ramesh and international arbiter Gaurang S Mehta would be the coaches for the junior boys and girls and boys age group teams respectively.

Fide to review
KOCHI: Fide be reviewing the structure of the various zones in its steering committee meeting in Lausanne next week, according to P T Ummerkoya, the Fide vice-president who will be attending the meeting. The zones which at present have only a president, will have a bigger council in future to manage the affairs.

The Fide is alsolikely to take a decision on the copyright on chess games by the Federation at the steering committee meeting on April 25 and 26.

Ranji prize
BANGALORE: The winners of the RanjiTrophy cricket tournament will receive a cheque of Rs 3.5 lakh from the Board of Control for Cricket in India this year.

According to a statement issued by president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association K Thimmappaiah, former Test cricketer B S Chandrasekhar will give away the trophy to the winners after the conclusion of the ongoing final.
