CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Archery Association will be conducting the National Sub-Junior (under-14) and Junior (under-18) Archery Championships here from April 22 to 26. HAA president Shiv Raman Gaur said that more than 350 archers from 20 states and Union Territories would compete in the five-day competitions which would be held in the Indian as well as Olympic rounds. Events in all distances, both for boys and girls, would be conducted.

Railways prevail

PATNA: Railways today defeated Kerala 10-15, 15-6, 15-12, 15-3 to retain the women’s title in the second Super League Volleyball championship at Gandhi Maidan here. Kerala, which managed to win the first set, put up a tough fight but failed in the face of display of perfect smash and blocking by the star-studded Railways.

Railways thus won all the three round robin league matches defeating Bengal and Andhra Pradesh earlier. Kerala defeated Bengal 15-7, 15-3 and 15-11 last night. Kerala bagged the second spot,while Andhra Pradesh became third. In the men’s section late last night Railways drubbed Services 15-5, 15-10 and 15-2.

Maharashtra lead

KOCHI: Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra `A’, with 80 and 75 VP (victory points) took the top spot in their respective groups at the end of the fourth round of group league matches in the Inter-State Bridge championship here today. In group `B’, Maharashtra `A’ scored victories over Delhi (20-10), Kerala `C’ (23-7), Assam (17-13) and Karnataka (16-14).
