TNCA plea

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) will file its counter before Delhi High Court in the case filed by a patron of a private club in Delhi challenging the ban on Tamil Nadu and Delhi cricket teams from participating in the Ranji Trophy championship this year.

Ashok Kumbhat, the TNCA secretary informed that since the association had not received the notice issued by the High Court in this connection, TNCA had decided to present themselves through their counsel on the basis of newspaper reports.

CHENNAI: Promising youngster C Nandita of Tamil Nadu completed a grand double by annexing the girls under-14 and under-16 titles in The Hindu-Sportstar sub-junior tennis championship at the Krishnan Tennis Centre here today.

A product of the Classic Advanced Tennis Academy, Nandita first pocketed the under-14 title squeaking past second seeded preethi rao 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 in a gruelling battle. She rounded off the day on a happy note when she put her bestfoot forward in the third set to pack off sixth seeded Samrita Sekar 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

Athletic meet

CHENNAI: Over 100 athletes would be competing for honours from eleven banks in the 10th All India Inter Bank Athletic Meet here on March 3 and 4.
