Sarvanan, Ramesh wins

“I have not accepted their apology in writing. If they are interested they could appeal to NCA chairman Raj Singh Dungarpur and return to the academy,” Hanumanth Singh said. Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh from Punjab, opener Nikhil Haldipur from Bengal and left-arm spinner Karthik Murali from Railways were `released’ from the academy, which commenced on May 1, after the end of the first semester.

MUMBAI:

The Motorsports Association of India (MAI) would hold their first ever National car rally championship to be flagged-off from here on July 15 and conclude the next day.

The rally, organised by the Western India Automobile Association (WIAA), will be the first in the seven-rally calender to decide the Indian National Rally championships for drivers and co-drivers in the modified Group-A (touring) and the unmodified Group-N (production) cars as well as team championships for the current year, a MAI release said here on Tuesday.

Results: Boys’ freestyle 50kg final: Kishan Kumar (HP) bt Raj Kumar (Pun) by fall. Third place: Sandeep Kumar (Goa) bt Virender Yadav (SSCB) TF. 63kg final: Ombir Singh (Pun) bt S Balwant Bhati (MP) by fall. Third place: Pankaj Kumar (Del) w/o Shivaji Pawar (Mah). 76kg final: Jang Bahadur (Pun) bt Raj Din (HP) by fall. Third place: Ajmer Singh (Har) w/o Shiv Rath (Raj). 97kg final: Sandeep Rathi (Del) bt Naveen (Har) by fall. Third place: Rajesh Kumar (SSCB) w/o Somveer (Raj).
