Solapur to host State basketball

The Maharashtra State inter-district basketball tournament for men and women would be held at Solapur from October 27 to 31. A referee8217;s clinic and examination would also be conducted during the championship. The Maharashtra state teams for the forthcoming nationals would be selected after the championship.

NCC women win

NCC directorate, Maharashtra, took a big step towards a fourth successive Prime Minister8217;s Banner award by winning all four titles in the basic leadership camp, 1998-99. Junior wing corporal Mona Tiwari won gold in the firing competition, while JUO Purnima Gawanne and CSM Shubhany Kausar emulated her in the senior category. Sonali Surve and Mayal Manmeet Kaur struck gold in the first aid and home nursing event, while Sneha Haliyal won silver in the signal competition.

Bihar skipper

Jamshedpur: Wicket keeper-cum-opener Sunil Kumar has replaced KVP Rao as Bihar skipper for the Ranji Trophy cricket tournament, Bihar CricketAssociation sources said here Monday. Rajiv kumar will be the vice-captain, the sources said. The decision has surprised many as Rao had been performing well and had helped the team reach the Super League last season.
