Sachin Tendulkar8217;s innumerable fans are in for an quot;August-treatquot; with ESPN telecasting some of the sizzling moments from his brilliant batting exploits in a series of programmes spread over the entire next month.

According to an ESPN release, the schedule is with time in brackets: Aug 5 2230; repeat on Aug 9 2130 and Aug 10 1600; Aug 12 2230; repeat on Aug 18 1100 and Aug 20 1430; Aug 19 2230; repeat on Aug 22 0630 and Aug 25 1100.

Umpires seminar
BANGALORE:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India8217;s BCCI tenth All-India Umpires Seminar will be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here from tomorrow.

About 150 umpires from all over the country will attend the two-day seminar, which would provide a forum for discussion on laws of cricket and rules of various tournaments. They will also interact with international umpires like S Venkataraghavan, VK Ramaswamy and SK Bansal, according to a press release here today.

The umpiressub-committee will also be meeting tomorrow.

Kumardeep leads
CALCUTTA:
Defending champion Kumardeep Chakraborty has emerged as the leader with five other players after the third round in the under-13 section of the Smith and Williamson British Chess Championship in London, according to information received here.

Chakraborty, winner of the last three editions of the championship, got the better of Hungary8217;s Nixon Thomas during the day to take his point tally to three.

In the British Chess Championship, GM Praveen Thipsay and Sasikiran were among the leaders.

Table tennis camp
NEW DELHI:
The Table Tennis Federation of India will hold a preparatory camp for 12 probables at Patiala from August 17 to September 16 for the Asian Table Tennis Championships to be held in Osaka, Japan, from September 27.

The 12 probables, in men and women, will be picked by the national selection committee during the inter-institutional championships to be held at Vadodara from August 1 to 7. Nationalchampion Chetan Baboor, who will begin his yearly stint in Sweden for the BTK Enig club from next month, is expected to spearhead the country8217;s challenge in the meet.

The TTFI has also finalised the schedule of the Khar Gymkhana all India open prize money tournament in Mumbai. The meet, to be held from August 8 to 11, will carry a total prize money of Rs 1,30,000. The men8217;s champion will take home Rs 30,000 while the topper among women will get Rs 20,000.

Women8217;s hockey
SHIMLA:
The 49th Senior Women8217;s National hockey championship will be held in Chennai after the 16th Commonwealth Games, according to Vidya Stokes, president Indian Women8217;s Hockey Federation, here today.
