NEW DELHI: Nirupama Vaidyanathan reached the final qualifying round of the 450,000 Bank of West Classic beating American Erica Delone, ranked No 153.She now meets No 69 Elena Tatarkova, top seeded in the qualifying draw.Nirupama has eight points so far including 2 bonus points for the win against Delone.

Jr Wrestling team

PHAGWARA: A ten-member Indian junior wrestling team has been named for the World Junior Wrestling Championship to be held in Nevada, US from August 7 to 10.

LB Yadav and Ramphal Mann will accompany the team as coaches while VM Datt will be the manager, chief wrestling national coach PR Sondhi said here today.

The Team: 49 kg: Sanjiv Kumar UP, 52 kg: Manoj Kumar Railways, 56 kg: Sanjay Kumar BSF, 60 kg: Sukhinder Tomar UP, 65 kg: Ramphal UP, 70 kg: Sandip Kumar Haryana, 76 kg: Anuj Kumar Railways, 83 kg: Satinder Singh Delhi, 90 kg: Rajiv Tomar UP, 115 kg: Nishant Kumar Delhi.

BANGALORE: Tamil Nadu andKarnataka A8217; scored run away victories in their respective pools in the second Independence Gold Cup hockey under-14 tournament, at the Sports Authority of India Southern Centre here today.In Pool A8217;, Tamil Nadu toyed with Kerala B8217; 11-0, after leading 6-0 at half-time.

In the other match between Karnataka A8217; and Kerala A8217; in pool B8217; the winners scored thrice in the first session and added another two after change of ends.
