Singapore titles for Udai, Bhappu

MUMBAI: Indian squash players Udai Singh and Rohan Bhappu have won the men’s and boys’ under-19 titles respectively in the Singapore National Closed (restricted to Singapore residents and citizens) championship held recently.

Udai Singh called for trials for the July 11-18 Asian Seniors championship at Kuala Lumpur, out-stroked Singapore’s Lim Jit Uei 9-5, 9-7, 3-9, 9-5 to lift the men’s title.

Bhappu prevailed over Ng Teng Kuan 9-1, 8-10, 9-0, 9-0 for the under 19 boys’ title, according to information available here.

Indian squad

MUMBAI: National men’s champion Akhil Behl, former title-holder Arjan Singh, Ritwik Bhattacharya and Gajendra Singh would form the four-member Indian team to take part in the July Asian Seniors squash championship.

The tournament is to be held at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia from July 11-18.
