
Paes-Bhupathi enter semis
NEW DELHI: Top seeds Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi entered the semifinals beating Jacco Eltingh and Sjeng Schalken 6-4, 6-2 in the US 975,000 Qatar Open according to information reaching here.
The Indians will meet Kevin Marc-Goellner and Richey Reneberg in the semi-finals which could not be held as scheduled on Friday night because of rain. In the first round, Leander and Mahesh beat Karim Alami and Hicham Arazi 6-3, 6-7, 6-4. Paes did not play the singles as he did not get a wildcard.
Sethi triumphs
CALCUTTA: Defending champion Geet Sethi lived upto his awesome reputation to trounce B Bhaskar of Karnataka and retain the title in the Senior National Billiards Championship at the Calcutta Club. Sethi toned up his game by several notches to trounce Bhaskar 1787-781 in a totally lop-sided contest.
Sethi, who has won the seventh national title, compiled a mammoth break of 854 on his 5th visit to open up a seizable lead early in the proceedings and then fired a plethora of century breaks to leave his opponent in a daze.
Mumbai in trouble

Mallika loses
NEW DELHI: Mallika Parekh of Maharashtra lost to top seed Mouma Das in the sub-junior girls final 21-13, 21-15, 21-17 as Bengal paddlers made a clean sweep of the 59th National Sub-Junior National Table Tennis Championship which concluded at Patel Indoor Stadium in Ajmer today.
