VIJAYAWADA:
About 400 shuttlers from 25 states will be seen in action in the four-day 13th National Badminton Championships for mini and sub-junior boys and girls beginning on Sunday.
For the first time, wild card entries were introduced in badminton in the country, Badminton Association of India BAI joint-secretary Punnaiah Choudary told newsmen here. Railways are particpating for the first time in the sub-junior events, while Mizoram and Meghalaya are not taking part.

Double for TN
CHENNAI:
C Gunavanan and V Radha, both from Tamil Nadu, etched their names in the winners8217; list of the ninth Junior National Triathlon championship which concluded at the IIT campus on Sunday.
While Gunavanan finished the race in one hour, nine minutes, 51 seconds, Radha clocked 1:21.54. Maharashtra8217;s Rupali Repale finished second 1:24:55 in the girls8217; section.

Sporting in semis
GANGTOK:
Mohameddan Sporting edged past Cuttack8217;s Rising Star 2-1 to enter thesemi-finals of the 21st All-India Governor8217;s Gold Cup football tournament in the second quarter-final match at Paljor Stadium.
The win will see Sporting take the winner of the quarter-final tie between Bangladesh8217;s Brothers8217; Union and Army XI.

Boys in semis
NEW DELHI:
Boys Sports Coy ASC, Bangalore, defeated CRZ Senior Secondary School, Sonepat, 2-1 to move into the semifinals of the 26th Nehru Junior Hockey Tournament here.
Lyallpur Khalsa Senior Secondary School Jalandhar, Boys Sports Coy Danapur and Birsamunda Vidyapeeth Rourkela have already booked their place in the semis.
