FEBRUARY 25: Pakistan and South Korea, forced into the qualifiers for the Sydney Olympics, brace themselves for a potentially thrilling final while India will hope to salvage the third spot in the Azlan Shah Cup Hockey Tournament on Saturday.
Pakistan will hope to avenge their 4-5 defeat by Korea in the Asia Cup late last year. Both teams have reached the summit clash unbeaten with their round-robin game ending in a one-all draw.
“I never thought Pakistan would reach the final. But now we are there, we will play our best to win. Of course, our mind is in Osaka where we have to qualify for the Olympics next month,” legendary Pakistan forward and team manager Islahuddin said.
India’s Olympic build-up has been progressing in fits and starts and a third place, if they beat hosts Malaysia, will come as some consolation after defeats to the top two and a below par Germany has raised questions about their abilities.
