A visit to Sector 19 invariably makes one encounter heaps of garbage and construction waste. Apart from hygiene, the inadequate security in the area also generates a sense of apprehension among residents.
G S Bhatwa, a resident of the area says, 8220;There is a path adjoining my house which is meant for pedestrians to walk. The path, however, is now being used as a pass road for vehicles. This provides an easy escape for notorious elements active in the area.8221;
Another resident, Bhupender Bakshi, adds that snatchers are common in the area and that his wife has been on the receiving end a couple of times. He says, 8220;Security is a major concern in the sector. We are senior citizens and such incidents can prove fatal for us.8221;
As construction waste can be found dumped at various places, residents allege that while stern action is taken against them for dumping the waste, officers from government offices face no action for committing the same.
The sector houses several offices apart from the Le Corbusier Centre. With potholes present at almost every corner, the roads here leave a lot to be desired.
The inadequate parking facility is also exposed during rush hours.
