
Woman commits suicide with four children
Ahmendnagar: A woman who had a quarrel with her husband over a petty issue committed suicide by jumping into a well with her four children at Sakuri village in Rahata taluka on Tuesday.
The bodies of the woman and three children have been fished out of the well. The fourth child has however not yet been traced.
The police said that the woman, Vimal Bansode 35, had quarreled with her husband, Bhausaheb, over the issue of fodder. When the husband left for work, Vimala left the house along with her children Manish 10, Swati 8, Sagar 6 and Amol 4. When she did not return home till evening, her husband and other family members conducted a search. The next day, on October 13, Amol8217;s body was found floating in a well near Bansode8217;s residence. The police along with the help of the residents later fished out the five bodies. The police are conducting a search for the fourth child, Sagar, who is still missing.
The police have recovered a note which said that the woman had committed suicide due to harassment from her husband. A small sack and two sickles were found near the well. The bodies were cremated after conducting post-mortem.
SC moved in massacre case
AHMEDNAGAR: The four accused in the children8217;s massacre case whose death sentences were overruled by the Bombay High Court have been re-arrested.The State Government has made an appeal to the Supreme Court against the verdict of the Bombay High Court which had acquitted all the accused.
The accused Gangadhar Kotwal Guruji, Damu Shinde alias Pimplya Bhagat, Mukinda Thorat and Balu Joshi, were convicted and sentenced to death by the District Sessions Judge B T Narawade at Shrirampur. The Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court had however acquitted the accused and set aside the sentence of the lower court. After the State Government filed an appeal before the Supreme Court, the District and Sessions Court issued an order to re-arrest the accused.
