Pawar new city engineer
P T Pawar is the new city engineer of Pune Municipal Corporation. Pawar took charge on Monday of his new post from Madhav Harihar, who retired on Saturday.

Municipal Commissioner Ratnakar Gaikwad appointed Pawar under section 53 (3) of the Bombay Province Municipal Corporation Act. Pawar’s appointment will be for six months. Pawar, who joined the municipal corporation in 1963 as junior engineer, was Development Engineer (Roads) before taking the charge as city engineer. S G Nawale has been given the additional charge of Development Engineer (Roads).

Shah appointed
Bharat Shah was appointed president of the Cyber Cafe Owners Association of Pune South Zone (CCOA) while Amarjeetsingh Rajpal was elected vice-president. Award for Pune technicians
The Pune Technicians’ Chapter was selected for the best technicians’ award. The Technicians’ chapter has was selected for the award among all India Technicians’ Chapter established by Institution of Engineers (India) Calcutta.

Prof V R Deshpande, Vice-Chancellor, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar University, presented the award. The Pune Technicians’ Chapter was established in 1985 and provided guidance to the AMIE students.

Chief engineers’ meet takes off
Lt Gen R J Mordecai, Director General of the Border Roads Organisation inaugurated the five day Chief Engineers’ Conference at the GREF Centre at Dighi Camp.

Highlighting the new ventures taken up by the organisation, he stressed the need for speedy occupation of jobs without compromising on quality. He said that the organisation had entered into precision works such as construction of runaways, expressways and major bridges. The meet was being attended by chief engineers and senior staff officers.

UPSC result
The result of the Combined Medical Services Examination held by the Union Public Service Commission this year has been declared. The copy of the result will be available for perusal at the Press Information Bureau at Navi Peth. The total number of candidates in the list is 267 including 90 belonging to backward classes, 23 belonging to Scheduled castes and 11 belonging to scheduled tribes.
