
AIR, DD stir
The indefinite strike by members of the Chandigarh chapter of the Akashvani and Doordarshan Administrative Staff Association continued today. The employees are on agitation on a call given by the United Forum and are protesting the alleged discriminatory behaviour of the U.T. government and Prasar Bharati board towards their demands. They want pay parity with the programme and engineering cadres of the AIR and DD.

Kalibari celebrated its 29th foundation day by organising a blood donation camp today. The camp was opened by UT Deputy Commissioner M. Ram Shekhar, who himself donated blood. A prayer hall and a charitable dispensary were inaugurated by Central Excise Commissioner S.S. Jha and CE, Chandigarh, Brig. S.N. Mukherjee respectively.
Savings awards
Prizes were given to women agents who had made the highest collection during 1998-99 at the Women8217;s Savings Day, celebrated at Panchkula today. The winners, are Asha Rani Brwala, Kamla Devi Raipur Rani and Kusum Lata Panchkula.
