Lillee and son send Pak crashing

PERTH: Australia8217;s pace legend Dennis Lillee 3-8 and his son Adam 3-29 handed Pakistan a seven-wicket mauling in the opening match of their tour of Australia. Lillee senior, was making his last competitive appearance at the age of 50, while turning out for an Australian Cricket Board Chairman8217;s XI.

German hopes alive

CAIRNS: Germany denied Australia a last gasp equaliser to win 3-2 in the third hockey international tonight. The Australians had the chance to equalise and seal the five-game series with a final minute penalty corner but Michael8217;s Brennan8217;s strike went wide. Australia won the opening two games, 2-1 and 5-4.

Tyson case settled

LOS ANGELES: A sexual battery lawsuit filed against former heavyweight boxing champion MikeTyson by a female photographer has been settled out of court.

Lady Wautusa Je8217;s superior court complaint against Tyson was scheduled to go to trial on Monday but the parties settled the matter last Friday, according to the court clerk for judge Paul Boland.

NEW DELHI: The senior National grass court tennis championship scheduled to be held at Calcutta from November 15-20 has been postponed till February next year.

BANGALORE: Punjab boys and holders Manipur girls emerged champions in the 16th Sub-junior National Handball Championships. While Punjab boys overcame Karnataka 25-20, Manipur girls routed Maharashtra 19-10.

In the inaugural Mini Junior National championships, Maharashtra won both the boys8217; and girls8217; titles.

Ten share lead

CALCUTTA: Three players pitchforked into limelight as 10 shared lead after the third round of the Millennium Open rating championship. Bibhas Bhowmick of Bengal, K Vishwesharan of Tamil Nadu and ChandrasekharGokhale of Indian Airlines were the three unfancied players among the 10 who shared the lead.

Bat in record books

NEW DELHI: A cricket bat entered the Guinness Book of world records as the largest of its kind, a company statement said. Unveiled at the National Stadium on April 16 this year, the bat measured 15.24 metres in length, 1.82 metres in width and 430 kilogrammes, the statement said.
