
MUMBAI, AUG 25: At a programme held at its campus in Dadar, the Indian Education Society today honoured the Kargil war heroes with a cheque of more than Rs five lakh. The cheque was issued in the name of the Army Central Relief Fund, which was handed over to Brigadier retd V S Grover by K Digvijay Singh, CEO of Express Group.
The money was raised through a contribution drive started a couple of months ago by the IES management, when 6,000 students of IES-run schools participated in a successful rally to honour the Kargil martyrs. The rally, held at Shivaji Park, was organised with the purpose of inspiring patriotism in young minds, said D P Patkar, president of the Indian Education Society.
