Pravin Mahajan has allegedly told the police that he had warned his elder brother Pramod at least twice in the past that he would kill him if he didn8217;t stop humiliating him, sources said.

8220;I had warned Dada Pramod not to ignore me. But he thought nobody could harm him, especially me. He is responsible for everything,8221; Pravin is understood to have told the investigating officer last night.

Sources said Pravin will soon be put through the lie-detector and brainmapping tests to check if he8217;s hiding anything.

Investigators have been trying to ascertain if there is a motive 8220;other than humiliation8221;. About disputes over money or property, Pravin has allegedly said he was 8220;capable of earning a living and he was not a beggar, who would stand outside somebody8217;s door8221;.

Pravin also said that Mahajan8217;s refusal to acknowledge his presence when he walked into his Worli residence on Saturday was the final straw.

8220;When I stepped out of the lift and entered my brother8217;s house, he was reading a newspaper. He looked up, saw me and then continued to read the paper,8221; Pravin allegedly said. 8220;When I asked him why he was ignoring me, he said he mistook me for a newspaper delivery boy.8221; According to police, Pravin said that this further disturbed him and firmed his resolve to kill his brother.

8220;I wanted to kill my brother for the humiliation that he meted out to me over the years, but I was in two minds. On Saturday, I stopped my car thrice to ponder over my decision. Finally, when I reached his home, he humiliated me again,8221; said Pravin.

According to sources, the investigating officers are waiting for Mahajan8217;s health to improve so they can cross-check Pravin8217;s statements. 8220;During interrogation, Pravin himself told us that we should check with Mahajan once he gains consciousness,8221; said a police officer, requesting anonymity.

According to the police, Pravin8217;s wife Sarangi told them that they never had any family problems and that Pravin was a caring father. However, the extended Mahajan family, she told the police, had disputes for the last 15 years.

Sources said Pravin8217;s telephone diary 8212; which was seized from his house 8212; does not contain 8220;big names8221;, most numbers are of family.
