Starting tomorrow, a souped up Employment News currently boasting of a weekly circulation of 6.5 lakh will appear in shades of blue with celebrities like Gulzar penning their articles for job-seekers.

Gulzar with his mug, is just the beginning, say officials at the Publications Division. Filmmakers like Shyam Benegal have been asked to write on cinema (courtesy I&B Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad), highlighting work opportunities in the film industry, NASSCOM chief Kiran Karnik has been requested to write about job opportunities in IT and the list gets longer.

So far, only government-recognised institutes found their place in the publication.

Putting its troubled past firmly behind, Employment News from the Publications Division of the I&B Ministry has decided to gets its focus right for the first time. ‘‘Employment generation in new areas as compared to the traditional job opportunities already in the market (universities and technical institutes run by the Government) is going to be top priority of Employment News,’’ sources said.
