A Najafgarh resident had to spend a night in police station. Reason, for claiming responsibility for Saturday8217;s serial blasts in the Capital and that too in an inebriated state.
Surender Pal8217;s share of woes began on Monday night when he telephoned a CBI inspector and started inquiring about one Vinod and refused to listen to repeated requests that the phone did not belong to the person he was asking for.
8220;I will blast you with a bomb,8221; Pal is alleged to have told the inspector prompting him to lodge a complaint with the Police control room.
Police immediately got in touch with central security agencies to locate the number which was traced to Pal in Najafgarh in South West Delhi.
The local police station was asked to take details about Pal. The policemen then got in touch with Pal and asked him as to why he was threatening people with bomb blasts.
Pal again claimed that he had already detonated five on Saturday and would do it again. He was immediately picked up from his house in a drunken state and kept in Police station before being shifted to R K Puram for further questioning.
In the morning, after recovering from the influence of alcohol, Pal realised where he had landed himself and pleaded for mercy. He was released after being kept in detention for a whole day.
In another incident, a woman apparently jealous of her husband8217;s second wife informed the police that a 8216;militant8217; was visiting her home. A police team was promptly despatched but to its surprise found that the visitor was a distant relative of husband8217;s second wife. The first wife was later given a stern warning by the police.
