Hosts make visitors comfortable on Day 2

Earlier, Haryana8217;s eighth-wicket partnership between Sandeep Singh and Amit Mishra, which began on Tuesday with the team8217;s score at 133 for 7, finally came to an end when Sandip Maniyar induced an edge from the blade of Singh for wicketkeeper Sagar Jogiyani to take a simple catch. The two put on 132 runs together in a rescue-effort. Singh made 58 that included seven hits to the ropes. Rakesh Dhruve sent back Mishra 84 to the pavilion to complete his five-wicket haul. The visitors8217; innings folded up for 308.

The hosts suffered a setback early when opener Sagar Jogiyani was retired hurt after being hit by a Sanjay Badhwar delivery. Soon after, Haryana skipper Joginder Sharma struck with the wicket of other opener Prashant Joshi, pushing Saurashtra on the backfoot. Veteran Sitanshu Kotak and young Cheteshwar Pujara then tried to piece the innings together. But just when they looked set for a big partnership, Pujara flirted with a delivery that was going outside the off-stump, leaving the hosts at 34 for 2.

Skipper Jaydev Shah was out on 33, completely beaten by spinner Gaurav Vashisht.
