India is poised to become one of the three leading economies of the world besides being a global power, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance industries limited (RIL) Mukesh Ambani said.

Addressing the gathering after receiving the doctorate of science at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda here last night, Ambani revived memories of India’s golden days when it provided global leadership in economy, philosophy, trade and culture.

Our country suffered setbacks and was struggling for independence earlier, but now the wheels of history have turned and our present has given a new thirst to the Indian economy, he said.

Our young professionals have made a huge impact in the United States and in other parts of the world, he said.

The corporate honcho emphasised the need on giving young people, having untapped potential and motivation an opportunity for winning the world.

At this historic juncture, our country requires visionary leaders in all walks of life in business, politics, education and society for unleashing an ‘Indian Renaissance’, Ambani said.
